Convert webpage to EPUB

Adjusting the webpage, removing content from original webpage like forms, videos, audios, frames, scripts and styles, trying to improve the readability on EPUB readers.

Browser extensions

Prefer full privacy? Use the browser extension — it converts the page you are reading entirely on your device, with no proxy and no server involved.

What is Web page to EPUB?

Web page to EPUB is a free tool that converts any public webpage into an EPUB file, so you can read articles, blog posts and documentation offline on your favorite e-reader. Paste a URL and download a clean, readable EPUB in seconds — no account and no installation required.

During the conversion, distracting elements such as forms, videos, audios, frames, scripts and styles are removed, keeping the text and images that matter for a comfortable reading experience.

How it works and your privacy

When you submit a URL, the tool first tries to download the page directly from your browser. Many websites block this kind of direct request, so when the direct download fails the tool falls back to a third-party proxy that downloads the page content on your behalf and returns it to your browser.

This means that, when a proxy is used, the address of the page you want to convert is sent to a server operated by a third party. We cannot guarantee that these proxies do not keep information about the requests they receive.

If you do not want to send any information to third parties, install the browser extension. The extension turns the page you are currently reading into an EPUB entirely on your device, without using any proxy and without sending the page anywhere.

Proxies we currently use

The online converter is free to use. When a direct download is not possible, it tries the following proxies (in a random order) until one of them is able to fetch the page. Some websites block being downloaded through public proxies, so a few pages may fail to convert online — in that case, the browser extension is the recommended alternative.

  • AllOrigins — a public open-source CORS proxy. allorigins.win
  • Web page to EPUB proxy — a proxy hosted by this project to improve the chance of a successful download.

Frequently asked questions

Is Web page to EPUB free?

Yes. Both the online converter and the browser extensions are completely free, with no account and no usage limits. Keep in mind that some websites block being downloaded through public proxies, so a few pages might not convert online.

Is my data sent to a server?

The online converter first tries to download the page directly from your browser. When that is not possible, it sends the page address to a third-party proxy that downloads the content for you. We cannot guarantee that these proxies do not store information about the requests. If you do not want to send any information to third parties, install the browser extension, which converts the page entirely on your device.

Which devices and readers can open the EPUB?

EPUB is widely supported. You can open the generated files on Kindle, Kobo, Apple Books, Google Play Books, PocketBook, Calibre and most other e-readers, tablets and phones.

Why are some elements removed from the page?

Forms, videos, audios, frames, scripts and styles are removed so the result is clean, lightweight and comfortable to read on e-readers.

What is the difference between the website and the extension?

The website downloads the page for you, using a third-party proxy when a direct download is not possible. The browser extension converts the page you are currently viewing directly on your device, so it works with pages behind a login and never shares the page with a proxy.
